Another family event! My wife has a big family, not her immediate family, but her extended family is huge. During a family event it is possible to have over 100 people there. This wedding was my first outdoor wedding and it took place in DeWitt Michigan in the back yard of one of the Bride’s uncles house. The weather was a bit warm but the sun made for a great day of photos!

I got to the wedding very early, before the bride or groom had even arrived so I could look over the area and figure out how I was going to shoot. I had my tripod, my Canon EOS 40d, and my Canon EOS 5D Mark III. Because I was there so early, I had a chance to take a lot of detail shots around the yard, the wedding book, the card box, the cake, some of the decorations. This allowed me to get started before I had even seen the bride or the groom.

The wedding shots went really well, we had to contend with a bit of wind and a few balloons that flew away but for the most part the ceremony went off without a hitch. Afterwards during the formal portraits we went to a neighbors house and utilized their back yard, there was a fence right in front of a very pretty tree that provided some great photos, and in their garden was an old fashioned windmill which also provided another great perspective.

I hope you enjoy the photos!
