I’ve mentioned that I love taking candid pictures of kids, and I do, but at a certain age formal portraits can be pretty great as well. “M” was loving the backdrop, the poses, I think there was something about getting dressed up for a recital, wearing makeup, and then stepping in front of a photographer with a backdrop, lights, and camera.

M’s mom asked me to take photos because she wasn’t happy with the way the dance studio ones turned out and I’m glad she did! I tried having “M” do a few dance poses while I took her picture, and after those were done I had her lay down on her stomach with her hands on her cheeks and took some that way too.

I knew during the session that I had a few good ones, but once I opened up my editor I was amazed with how well they turned out! There wasn’t really anything I needed to do with the shots, the light was very well distributed and M’s face just lit up.

I have my favorite image as the thumbnail for the gallery, tell me what you think about the photos in the comments!
